The best ways to earn Crowns in The Witcher 3

There are many different ways to earn Crowns in The Witcher 3. We've listed them below, so be sure to scroll down for some money making tips.

Explore the Northern Realms and sell your loot

There are times when we're so focused on the end result that we forget to enjoy the journey, and that was beginning to be the case in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We started grinding away at main quests and side quests, forgetting to spend some time roaming and exploring the land in between our objectives.

We corrected this last night, going around and visiting all of the question marks that we found around Velen and White Orchard. We found treasures, monster nests, bandit camps and everything in between, and by the time we had finished wandering around for about two hours, we were 2,000 Crowns richer.

If you want to mimic our success, head out and fill your pockets with everything you can carry, being sure to grab up all the dropped weapons and armor of your foes. Then, head to a merchant in a nearby town and sell it all (unless it's better than what you have). Combine this with the loose Crowns that you find laying around, and you'll be laughing all the way to the bank. Not to mention, you'll also find loads of alchemy, weapon and armor diagrams, which are going to help you craft better gear going forward.

Completing Contracts in The Witcher 3

We started to get a little worried about whether contracts were worth our time in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, as a couple of our clients were rather short on change. As you get into Velen, however, there are several that will pay Geralt a solid 250 Crowns. Considering that each one of these can be banged out in about 10 minutes, you could easily earn over 1,000 Crowns for an hour of work. You might even get it done faster by reading a walkthrough for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Contracts.

We'd suggest doing contracts that are about level 10, making sure that you are also in that range when you attempt them. There are some that will be in the 20's and 30's, but these aren't really realistic for your average player to complete until they rank up a bit. Still, if you can pocket 1,000 Crowns before you head off to Novigrad, that's a pretty good deal.

How to earn infinite Crowns in The Witcher 3

Previously, players of The Witcher 3 could bag themselves an infinite number of Crowns by repeatedly killing two cows in the White Orchard area of the game. This would mainly consist of killing the cows, selling their hides, meditating, and repeating the process all over again. Sadly, this has since been patched by CD Projekt Red.

You can still attempt it, but we don't recommend that, as you'll find yourself up against a rather tough chort enemy after killing enough cows.

Now that slaughtering cows is off limits, your best bet for farming an infinite amount of crowns is finding yet another mob to complete the process with. One player on Reddit, UnHumChun, recommends venturing to Hanse Base, killing all of the soldiers (leaving the leader alive), and looting their weaponry.

You can then sell the weaponry off to a Grandmaster Craftsman, meditate, and repeat the process all over again.
