Treyarch hints at fourth map pack for Black Ops

Tuesday, 28th June 2011 15:53 GMT By Johnny Cullen

Three? Why stop at three. Go for four and push for the win.

Treyarch design director David Vonderhaar has hinted that we will see a fourth Black Ops map pack.

“I can’t talk to anything beyond ‘Annihilation’, but keep your eyes peeled,” he hinted to Digital Spy without saying anything further.

Treyarch has already released three map packs, the latest being Annihilation earlier today on Xbox Live.

Just so you know, Treyarch released three map packs for World at War.

Black Ops was announced earlier today to be the biggest-selling game in the UK ever.

    @3 Lol yeah he’s the man…MACHETE

But I give Treyarch credit they release a good amount of content but the question is price…you’re getting into territory here where if you buy all four map packs the price is the equivalent to buying another full price retail game…now do those four map packs contain enough content for you to consider it to be worth the price of a full game? To me, no, not at all…because if you buy the map packs but don’t have the game you can’t just play the map packs without the game…so its basically a $120 game and then they will drop a CoD Elite sub fee on top of that and they are milking the CoD community to the bone…its insane…I just hope Bungie doesn’t become a bunch of money hungry bastards with their next game but I fully plan on it happening since they said the reason they chose Acti over EA or another publisher was because they showed them a plan on how to monetize multiplayer…not cool guys, not cool…

this is why i dont buy map packs or if i do i wait til they are on offer, even thats a bad idea as they usually go on offer the week before the next call of duty.
Still think map packs should be treated like rock band tracks, pay for an export key so you export all maps to the next game, id feel like im getting my moneys worth then.
Even if it was only mw1 to mw2 to mw3 and waw to blackops to the nxt treyarch game.
You buy all these map packs and as soon as the next game comes out, thats it most people dont go back to playing any of the old ones, you dont even gets a years worth of play out of them.

Makes sense, Black Ops’ DLC is ahead of the equivalent MW2 schedule.

So that’s $120 for the game (standard edition) and all four map packs so far? COD:Elite will go down a treat no doubt.

The reason why Acti want create more maps is, because BF3 comes with 10 maps in total in DLC…. Acti is just a copy-cat, what-ever they comes on the market, it’s re-make….

why 15 not 10 per map pack is the question. 10 is a reasonable number, 15 is a fanboy fueled number.

It’s certainly a bit of a shift from offering the packs free of charge to PC gamers with WaW.

The vast majority of DLC simply isn’t worth it. I don’t know if Treyarch created these maps in advance or not, but charging for content that’s been stripped from the finished game is never going to be a nice thing to do.

@12 So the fact that EA will be charging for old maps in BF3 has kinda gone over your head, huh? :P

I think it’s awesome that treyarch is supporting the game with constant maps. Are you guys seriously bitching about 15 bucks? Lol. If paying 15 bucks every month or two is hurting your pockets you need another hobby. Seriously. Especially considering the amount of time people spend playing CoD. If you don’t play the game, you don’t buy the maps. Simple. Cod haters are hilarious.

@12 really act is a copy cat look at EA before u call another company cop cat

every year EA Comes out and says they got a game bigger then cod (medalofhonor,armyoftwo,bc2 etc) and it fails in sales compare to cod and can we stop with the cod vs BF3 debate already

    What?! another one???

Geez… Ive purchased all three packs, including the one that came out earlier today and they just announce another map pack.. C’mon Treyarch show some respect to the fans and at least make this 4th map pack free to celebrate the support you’ve received from the community.

$120 for a game is just too much…

Treyarch: the community would not mind getting some love and free content once in a while you know?

    Respectfully,

    A gamer and fan

I bought this map pack today, and as I was ordering it I was begining to think how expensive this game is starting to get. Sure, the zombie stuff is fun, but it’s all pretty lightweight fare. And the maps are nice, but you don’t exactly get all that many. I would much prefer the zombie stuff to be seperated out from the maps to ‘balance’ the pricing. I’m not sure this game can handle a fourth DLC map pack priced at 1200 points. It’s good DLC, but it comes with a heavy price tag. This cow has been well and truly milked.
