Bethesda turns 25 years old

Magic.

Bethesda was founded 25 years ago today. It seems that the milestone was unaware to PR boss Pete Hines on Twitter. But there we go.

Bethesda will, obviously, be well known for the creation of Elder Scrolls series, and has in the past couple of years seen itself grow with the acquisition of the Fallout IP and development of Fallout 3, as well as the release of Fallout: New Vegas from Obsidian Entertainment.

Its also been on a big roll lately in the past couple of years in acquiring studios like Arkane Studios, Shinji Mikami’s Tango Gamework and, of course, id Software.

It just so happens to be a bumper 25th anniversary year too for the company: Splash Damage’s Brink and inXile’s Hunted all launched in May and June respectively. Now it’s gearing itself up for the launch of RAGE from id in October and Prey 2 from Human Head next year. But the big one, naturally, is Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on November 11 worldwide.

Many happy returns, Bethesda massive.

Hopefully they bring on some Fallout 4 next year also!…Bethesda is the best..RPGs would not be the same without them, and they’ve made some of the most massive and memorable ones ever seen

There was a time, when a game from id would have been the second coming of Jesus, but now a TES game is more hyped. I really look more to RAGE and I love TES, but I just hope that id woud bring something that again will be epic like their 90s games.

One of my favourite developers ever, indeed.

I hope we see idTech5 on Fallout 4 rather then the Creation Engine or some other engine.

OR even better: NEXT GEN!

Bethesda is like the most schizophrenic company there is. Fallout 3 was a soulless husk, but it was nicely put together, and New Vegas had plenty of soul, but it could barely run for 5 minutes without encountering a critical error.

How’s about Bethesda teach Obsidian to put their games together properly, and Obsidian teach Bethesda how not to be boring?

Happy birthday and thank you for pure epicness in form of Elder Scrolls series and Fallout 3.
