Heavy Rain banned in UAE

The United Arab Emirates NMC (National Media Council) has voted in favour of banning Heavy Rain in the country.
The reason for the move is not clear.
The Quantic Dream thriller is only the second game this year to not get a release in the country. THQ’s Darksiders was also banned due to its violent overtones, while EA decided not to release Dante’s Inferno in the country for the same reasons.
The God of War titles are also banned in the UAE, although there’s no official word yet on whether or not GoW III will also be smitten before its release in March.
Heavy Rain is due to hit the US tomorrow, with a UK release on Friday.

No doubt God of War 3 will be banned, kratos is the most violent anti-hero EVER. If it was banned in the UK I’d import it or emigrate

I live in UAE, Dubai. And guess what ?!
A friend of mine bought the Limited Edition of Heavy Rain last week !
It’s banned, but definitely you can find it around.
They had banned GTA IV too , which was as crazy as banning HR IMO.

I think the link to all those games is digital boobies isn’t it? (Not sure about Darksiders). The GoW games, Dante’s and Heavy Rain all feature nakedness which is banned in the UAE.

The issue of Darksiders is the references to Heaven & Hell. Christianity is a touchy subject in those regions. We have our god, they have theirs.

I’m not surprised they banned God of War, Kratos’ boobs really are massive.

Same god, different rules. ^.^
I’m curious, since this game doesn’t seem to be overly violent, wouldn’t pretty much all shooters be banned over there?

Side Bar: I watched ‘How to lose friends and alienate people’ today.
The actor who plays Scott Shelby in HR was the bartender in that film

DrDamn’s on the money here: “pornographic visual representations” are no doubt the decisive no-no. GoW’s known for its raunchiness, Heavy Rain’s got its shower scene, GTAIV features strippers and accessible women of the night – it’s rather obvious, no?
