Wasteland 2 to include 1980's prequel

Crowd-funded RPG Wasteland 2 will include ageing prequel, Wasteland, Polygon has reported.

inXile founder, Brian Fargo, is offering fans the opportunity to crack-out the rose-tinted spectacles and see if the decades-old RPG, Wasteland, is as good as they remember it to be: a copy of the classic post-apocalyptic RPG will be included with Wasteland 2.

"The #1 request we had during our Kickstarter campaign was to have the ability to play the first game," Fargo said. "Fortunately EA has continued to support us on this project and has granted us the ability to bring the original to the players.

"It is great to be able to make Wasteland available for those feeling nostalgic or who want to experience it for the first time. It certainly will not be a pre-requisite to understand Wasteland 2, but it adds some extra flavor if you did play the prequel."

Wasteland 2 is in development thanks to a Kickstarter campaign that raised almost $3 million, the target was $900,000. The game is expected on PC in October and Fargo aims to deliver an intelligent title that avoids the "dumbing down" that he associates with so many modern titles.
