THQ sued for $10.6 million over shelved Adidas game

Adidas has brought a suit against troubled publisher THQ for failing to release a fitness game tying in with its MiCoach range.

OregonLive reports the sportswear manufacturer is suing for $10.6 million in damages, for breach of contract.

The company is also pursuing an injunction against THQ selling the MiCoach rights to another publisher, and said THQ has refused to hand over development materials so another developer of Adidas's choice can complete the game.

According to Adidas's suit, it entered into a an agreement to produce a game tying in with the MiCoach range of electronic training aids in December 2010. The game, tentatively titled MiCoach 24/7, was expected to launch in January 2012, but THQ bowed out in December 2011.

THQ is in difficult financial circumstances thanks to the failure of uDraw, and has axed jobs, cut executive salaries and lowered forecasts, but shows no signs of slowing down, with a crowded release calendar and unannounced titles in the works.
