The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt download size lower than predicted

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has a hefty install footprint, but it's not as bad as we expected.

The Witcher 3 was expected to be a 50GB download after a note to this effect was added to the PlayStation Store.

It looks like that might have been a placeholder figure, as DualShockers noted today that the figure has changed.

The US PS Store now shows a 35GB download. The Xbox One storefront reports a 25GB download, but one player claims that when pre-installed the game's files add up to over 30 GB.

The European PS Store still shows a 50GB download, which may be the unaltered placeholder text or may be accounted for by extra language options in the European build.

In any case, set aside some time to pre-load the mammoth RPG if you can; I'm hoping to grab a disc copy, personally, as my PS4 is pretty full and I have zero patience - and I'm sure there'll still be a pretty sizeable from-disc install to sit through.

The Witcher 3 went gold overnight, and releases on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on May 19.
