StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void "expected to be released" this year

StarCraft 2's final chapter will probably be with us this year.

After years of waiting, the StarCraft saga may be about to achieve some sort of resolution.

During Activision Blizzard's financial report today, Legacy of the Void was listed on the Blizzard highlights slide with the comment "expected to be released in 2015".

That's not a promise, by any means, but it is a public declaration of what Blizzard is aiming for, and investors won't be pleased if that changes. Don't hold your breath, but don't despair, either.

Legacy of the Void has been in closed beta testing since the end of March, but these things take time. It will conclude the StarCraft story, which began in 1998.

Those who pre-order Legacy of the Void receive early access to a mini-prologue campaign.
