Satellite Reign: Syndicate Wars successor gets gameplay footage, squad based combat shown

Satellite Reign developer 5 Lives has released a raw gameplay video, showing off its Kickstarter-backed successor to Bullfrog's Syndicate Wars. The clip shows the game's living city in motion, and gives a window on how its squad-based combat will function.

It follows my big Satellite Reign interview with director, former Bullfrog developer and Syndicate Wars lead Mike Diskett. If you're a fan of the classic Syndicate titles or fancy this game, you should check it out.

The pre-alpha footage gives an early impression of how the game will function, and the impact of the player's presence on civilians.

In a statement sent to VG247 today, Diskett said of the footage "It's very much a pre-alpha build being demoed, nothing here is really final, the UI, audio, weapons and effects are 100% placeholder, in fact it’s so early we weren't going to show any combat or civilians, but...

"The video was originally meant to demonstrate the agents' coats reacting to wind from the cars zooming by, but before we knew it we were showing crowds of civilians, CCTV cameras, cover usage, x ray camera mode and even a couple of enemies.

"The video was recorded at 1920×1080 @ 60 fps on a 2nd Generation i5 PC with a Radeon 5970 using Fraps."
