onlinegaming

A new report issued by Nielsen shows Americans spend 10 percent of their time online playing games.

According to the report, online gaming made up 10.2 percent of time spent on the Internet in 2010, which was up 10 percent over 2009.

Compared to last year, online games "overtook personal email to become the second most heavily used activity behind social networks" which accounted for 22.7 percent.

Converted to millions of hours, monthly time spent on gaming came in at 407 million hours.

Funnily enough, the sector users spent the most time in - 34.3 percent - was in the "other category".

Call it "other" all you like, Nielsen. We all know what it is: Mommy and Daddy pictures.

Thanks, GP.
