Wii U sales up by 10,000 units in Japan thanks to Splatoon debut

Wii U sales went through the roof in Japan for the week ending May 31, according to the latest Media Create charts. Looks like Nintendo can thank Splatoon for the uptick.

The ink-shooting game debuted at number one on the software charts, moving 144,818 units in two days.

For the first time in what seems ages, an Xbox One title landed in the top 20 with the release of 5pb's Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness.

Hardware sales were up across the board, despite the figures being rather flat in some cases.
