The creator of John Wick wants to adapt indie hit My Friend Pedro for television

The man behind the insanely successful John Wick franchise has revealed he is eyeing two unlikely video games to adapt for television.

Derek Kolstad is reportedly shopping around television adaptations of the 2019 cult hit My Friend Pedro and the even lesser-known 2017 title Bendy and the Ink Machine.

"I'm going out with a pitch for a television series based on the My Friend Pedro video game, as well as for Bendy and the Ink Machine," Kolstad said in an interview with Comicbook. "I am playing any... It's funny, the reason I'm answering it this way, literally, I have these Post-It notes on my computer of, 'This is what I'm working on today.'"

"To be honest, I love it all," he added. "Those are at the forefront, but at any given moment, people are jumping on the horn and we're talking The Janson Directive or we're talking Death Machine, we're talking actors with IP, sound men. I got to tell you, man, I'm still a little kid at this and I f--king love it.

"If I can emulate and replicate any success I've had with John Wick elsewhere, I'm going to be that 11-year-old that snuck into an R-rated movie, giggling."

Described as a "violent ballet about friendship," and one man's struggle to "obliterate anyone in his path at the behest of a sentient banana," My Friend Pedro launched last year and sold over 250,000 copies in its first week. The game was recently released to PS4.

Bendy and the Ink Machine, on the other hand, came out in 2017 - a light horror game featuring Disney-styled mascots from a fictional 1940s-era animation studio which come to life and are bent on murder. Its developer theMeatly has since confirmed a large-scale sequel is in the works.

With Kostlad confirming he is still in the pitching process, don't expect to see either adaptation on streaming services any time soon. Likewise, you've got a while to wait for the next instalment of John Wick - John Wick: Chapter 4 is slated to hit theatres in 2022, if the world survives that long.

In the meantime, you can whet your palate with John Wick Hex, the video game adaptation of the film franchise. John Wick Hex hit PS4 on May 5, and is also available on Mac and PC via the Epic Games Store. A version is currently in development for Xbox One.
