"It's Been a Bit of a Hard Week:" Blizzard President Responds to Warcraft 3: Reforged's Reception

Warcraft 3: Reforged has had a bumpy launch. After a number of issues, from gameplay to aesthetic, came to light post-launch, the company has seen one of its most well-known franchises dip in the public eye.
Users are demanding refunds, and the remake of the real-time strategy classic has been review-bombed to the depths of Metacritic's user scores. During an Activision Blizzard earnings call today, Blizzard president J. Allen Brack addressed the ongoing concerns.
"Honestly, it's been a bit of a hard week," Brack says. "Our community has come to expect really amazing things from us. And we've heard from them that we did not achieve that bar. But we stand behind our games, and have consistently shown that not only do we support them, but we continue to build on them even after launch, and we're committed to doing that here as well. And so we're gonna continue to update the game, and we'll continue to update the community with our plans going forward."
Blizzard said as much earlier this week, though it's surprising how many issues weren't addressed at all in the update or statement. There are plenty of visual changes, controversial restrictions on custom games, and the matter of forcing old Warcraft 3 players to update to the new client.
In a span of just over a week since its launch, the narrative around Warcraft 3: Reforged has tanked, and while Blizzard is promising a long-term commitment, it's hard to see if there's an end to the road ahead for fixing this game.
