And overhaul of the NaturalVision mod has been released, and it makes GTA 5 look rather gorgeous.
Called NaturalVision Remastered by its creator Razed, the GTA 5 mod has seen numerous environmental changes to ambient colors, lighting, tone mapping, and weather have been implemented to great effect.
In some instances, it was really hard to tell whether what we were seeing war real or in-game. Just take a look at his Flickr page, which shows various shots taken from the mod during development, and see for yourself.
According to Razed, the goal with NaturalVision Remastered was to make GTA 5 appear more less like Southern California.
In order to accomplish this, Razed looked at over 40 hours of video footage, researched various areas of Los Angeles and Salton Sea, and poured over "hundreds of photos" to accomplish what you'll see in the video below which was made while the update was in development.
Razed spent six months updating the mod, putting over 1200 hours into it.
"The aesthetic behind NaturalVision Remastered was inspired by Forza Horizon 3, Watch Dogs, GTA 5, and a variety of other games," Razed states in the mod's description (thanks, PC Gamer). "Numerous ambient details were taken from those titles and reproduced in GTAV's various weathers.
"Unlike any of the previous versions, NaturalVision Remastered does not rely on ReShade for its looks. This allows for players to enjoy a massive boost in performance."
