Ghost of Tsushima is getting a new Charm so you can pet the dog

It always felt like a missed opportunity for Ghost of Tsushima to let you pet foxes, but not dogs. It's a good thing this is changing soon.

Sucker Punch has revealed a new Charm coming to Ghost of Tsushima with the game's upcoming Legends 1.1 update. The Charm of Canine Recruitment not only lets you pet Mongol dogs you come across, it turns them into allies in combat.

Ghost of Tsushima, of course, allowed players to pet foxes after following them to their den, as one of its open world activities. But strangely, not dogs. Interestingly, the Tweet breaking the news specifically says it can be used in new game plus, which is also arriving with patch 1.1. It could be that the Charm simply doesn't drop in new game, which would be a bit of a shame.

The same charm allows you to pet the spirit dogs found in Legends, the fantasy-filled new co-op mode. Among other things, Legends adds new story and repeatable co-op content to the game that all takes place in a world built on Japanese mythology away from the conflict of the main game.

Story missions support two players, and survival expands that to four. There's also a raid, coming at some point after Legends' release.

Legends goes live alongside update 1.1 on October 16, free to all owners.
