Future Halo games will come to PC - report

Microsoft will bring Windows and Xbox together even further.

Future Halo games will come to PC - report

In yesterday's report about the two new Xbox One consoles Microsoft is working on, unnamed sources told Kotaku about an internal plan codenamed 'Project Helix', to bring the Xbox and Windows brands together.

One way of doing this is through releasing future Halo titles on PC as well as Xbox. This is a stark change in attitude towards one the company's biggest flagship franchises.

Although Microsoft has already said future Forza games will release on both platforms, many believed some games will remain console-only. But with Halo Wars 2 and Sea of Thieves being envisioned as both PC and Xbox games, it's easy to see the same mantle include Halo.

Last week, Microsoft revealed that Halo 5's Forge mode is coming to Windows 10, which includes the ability to play created maps in custom games with other Windows 10 players.

It's not outright Halo on PC, but you will be controlling characters with mouse and keyboard, albeit in a very limited setting.

The only Halo games to ever see a release on PC were the original Combat Evolved, which still has an active community, and Halo 2. Halo 2 was a Windows Vista exclusive, which didn't help it all, seeing as how no one seemed to like the OS.
