EA Mobile expanding to Android

After an impressive performance on the App Store, EA Mobile is making a bid to replicate recent iPhone successes on Android devices.

Develop reports that EA estimates the mobile gaming market will be worth $3.4 billion this year, and may reach $4.5 billion within two years.

The publisher plans to be in on that action on every front, with a spate of new releases for Android devices.

EA's plan is not entirely unexpected. At the 2010 Deutsche Bank Technology Conference in September, EA chief financial officer Eric Brown predicted Android OS would account for 25 percent mobile OS market within three years.

Need for Speed: Shift, FIFA 10 and The Sims 3 are already at home on the Android Market, as well the casual-friendly Bejeweled 2, Worms, and Tetris and various board games.
