You'll have to download Dead Island Riptide digitally if you buy the Definitive Collection on PlayStation 4.

Dead Island Definitive Collection PS4 includes only one game on disc

Dead Island Definitive Collection, the bundle that includes remastered versions of both the first Dead Island and its sequel, Riptide, has a very interesting situation on PlayStation 4.

The PS4 retail version only includes Dead Island on disc, and you get a download code for Riptide. This isn't the case on Xbox One, and it appears it's out of publisher Deep Silver's hands.

The publisher confirmed this to a fan asking on Twitter, and later provided Gamespot with a comment.

"There are limitations where you are unable to have multiple multiplayer experiences on the same disc, unfortunately we can’t comment further," the statement reads.

When asked how games like the Borderlands and Uncharted collection could have multiple games on a single disc, but not Dead Island, Deep Silver clarified what it actually meant.

"We could've worded that better," the publisher said in response to a fan.

"You need a separate menu, you can't just put two games on disc the same way as on XB1."

Dead Island Definitive Collection is out May 31 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Deep silver recently revealed that owners of either of the original releases on PC will get a discount towards the remaster.
