Marvel's Avengers delayed

Marvel's Avengers won't make its previously announced May release date.

Marvel's Avengers is the second Square Enix-published game to be delayed today. Developer Crystal Dynamics announced that the superhero action game is now due out September 4 worldwide, a nearly four-months delay.

"When we set out to bring you our vision for Marvel’s Avengers, we committed to delivering an original story-driven campaign, engaging co-op, and compelling content for years to come," the developer wrote in a blog post.

"To that end, we will spend this additional development time focusing on fine tuning and polishing the game to the high standards our fans expect and deserve."

Today's announcement isn't particularly surprising. Avengers looked rough from the moment it was revealed, and though Crystal Dynamics later polished up the original demo, the developer's muddled message on game structure left us with many unanswered question.

Hopefully this delay will help bring us a solid Avengers game. Marvel's Avengers is in development for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Stadia.
