Destiny: House of Wolves release date this month, harder strikes made easier, more

Bungie has dropped the weekly update for Destiny and it’s filled with good news.

The Destiny weekly update is here. Bungie said that while it can’t talk about House of Wolves right now, it will reveal the release date as well as a number of solid details this month.

The reset of the update was about fixes to raids, strikes and a new anti-AFK system coming with patch 1.1.2.

For raids, the developer is planning to improve the boss encounters. Though the goal is clear, achieving it is not always easy due to how complex the activity is. Bungie wants to fix the edge-cases without introducing new frustrations.

“For example, we had a bug where players weren’t doing damage to Minotaurs with the Relic shield. Turns out that the complicated hit test we use to detect a melee hit just missed the combatant because of the long-legged shape of its body. Some of these bugs were truly baffling, but we dug deep and went to great lengths to improve things,” said engineer Sean Chan.

As for strikes, Bungie wants to create a better standard for their difficulty. Bungie found that some strikes are harder to complete than others, and some last much longer than others. The new changes will affect some of the bosses’ behaviour.

The Cerberus Vae III strike on Mars is one that’s getting looked at, for instance. This strike is one of the least-completed ones so Bungie is looking into reducing the strength of some enemies as well as the final boss’ health.

Finally, Bungie is tackling the issue of idle and AFK players. During both strikes and Crucible matches. The developer will restrict a small number of players from matchmaking this week. This will apply to “the most toxic” players. These restrictions are temporary and will only apply to the activities where they were found idling.

Bungie said that should this type of behaviour continue from those players, other, more permanent restrictions will be applied to their accounts.

This won’t apply to anyone who goes idle for a few seconds. Rather, it’s aimed at players who rarely play their role and rely on idling too much when playing those activities.

1.1.2 patch notes are promised to drop soon, so the update couldn’t be that far off.
