iPhone 5 has sold over 5 million units since it launched on the 21st of September. That’s a lot of money for Apple and a lot of new handheld gaming devices on the streets.

Apple has sent out invitations for its September 12 media event, which takes place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco at 10.00am PDT/1.00pm EDT. Unfortunately, the invite doesn’t contain clues regarding what the firm plans to announce, as with previous invitations, but it’s rumored a mini version of iPad and possibly iPhone 5 will be announced. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said Apple will release iPhone 5 in early September and an iPad Mini in the same month along with an updated version of the third-generation iPad – which will address the current tablet’s heating issues. According to a Chinese report picked up by DigiTimes, Apple will reveal the iPhone 5 at its Worldwide Developer’s Conference, which is scheduled for June 10 to 15. The last hardware revision, the iPhone 4S, released in October and sold like cakes made of the surface of the sun, so apply salt liberally.

Apple has announced iPhone 4S at a press conference in the US today, with Epic’s Mike Capps confirming Infinity Blade II for release on December 1. The phone itself hits October 14.

Gizmodo‘s published what it says are mock-ups from a factory in China where the iPhone 5 is being manufactured. The design has a more curved look, similar to the first-gen iPhone, mixed with that of iPhone 4. The fifth-gen iPhone has been rumoured for ages now, with a reveal due to happen sometime in the autumn. Apple has, obviously, said nothing on such an event. Not yet anyways. More at the link.
