Elite: Dangerous has a new developer diary available in which David Braben discusses the space sim’s alpha launch, which will launch in December. The full game won’t be avaiable, obviously, instead the tester will contain to be revealed segments along with the combat, before moving on to other parts. News on the beta will be revealed at a later date and will then be followed by a “gamma” testing phase the game is released. Watch below. Thanks, PC Gamer.

Elite: Dangerous has a new developer video available in which David Braben goes over the battle between two spaceships that was shown in the last video. Braben said the video was not “pre-rendered” and was created via the game’s engine. He said the ships flew on pre-set paths in order to allow the art team to make sure everything looked right through various paths. Elite: Dangerous space stations designed around “procedural algorithms,” plans for construction through Event System
Elite: Dangerous will have variations when it comes to station designs, according to Frontier Developments, and this will be accomplished through “procedural algorithms” which will construct stations out of “a range of modular assets.”

Elite: Dangerous producer Michael Brookes has released the first in-progress screenshots of the space sim. The shots were released to Kickstarter backers first before being shown to the public. Veteran British developer David Braben has admitted to being a “little nervous” at around the midway point of his Kickstarter campaign for Elite: Dangerous and doubted if it was “the right thing to have done”. The space-epic sequel eventually met its Kickstarter target of £1.25m, raising £1.58m in total.

Elite: Dangerous has received a new trailer, courtesy of developer Frontier Developments. The studio has also added a PayPal funding option to the game’s site, which will run alongside the game’s Kickstarter campaign. At the time of writing the Elite: Dangerous Kickstarter has reached £820,035 of its £1,250,000 goal with 15 days to spare. Frontier has released a new Elite: Dangerous video featuring live, work-in-progress gameplay between David Braben and other members of the development team. You’ll see a convoy under attack, and a mix of AI and the players controlling the ships. The teams has also updated the FAQ on the single-player portion of game, and new concept art has also been released. With 23 days to go, 15,492 backers have pledged £721,132 towards the Kickstarter’s £1,250,000 goal.
