Half-Life, Counter-Strike now available on Linux

Valve has released Linux versions of Half-Life, Counter-Strike and Counter-Strike: Source on Steam. Steam’s Linux client, which is designed for use with Ubuntu, now boasts support for 93 titles and DLC packages, including Crusader Kings II, Serous Sam 3, FTL, Waveform, Trine 2 and Dungeons of Dredmor.

Half-Life, Counter-Strike now available for Mac through Steam

Half-Life has finally been released for Linux and Mac, and is now available through Steam for $9.99. At the moment it only shows a Windows logo – at least on our end – but Cult of Mac has confirmed the news is legitimate. Also, the orginal Counter Strike is available for Linux and Mac as well (thanks, Fin). Go nuts Mac boys and girls.

Gabe Newell announced as next Academy of Interactive Arts and Science Hall of Fame inductee

The Academy of Interactive Arts and Science has announced Gabe Newell will be the 17th inductee into the AIAS Hall of Fame. Valve’s co-founder and president will also headline the D.I.C.E. 2013 Summit stage as Thursday conference keynote speaker.

Tonight’s latest episode of GTTV with Geoff Keighley features the host at Valve headquarters speaking with Gabe Newell regarding new updates coming to Steam, Project Greenlight, Big Picture Mode as well as an exclusive trailer from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Catch a preview of the episode here. It’s also being rumored the episode may discuss with Valve the possibility of it creating a “movie” due to the firm’s recent domain registrations for “gamerlifemovie.com” and “gamerlifethemovie.com.” Today, added a new set of features to Steam which can be previewed. Valve releases six CS:GO screenshots from PAX – look

Valve has released some nice screenshots of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to go along with yesterday’s video. A beta for the game starts in October, and those attending PAX and the upcoming Eurogamer Expo will be handed codes.
