Sony CEO Kaz Hirai said that the company is "aggressively" pushing into the mobile space, and praised Pokemon Go's success.

"It's quite a shift from being just a console-based business to being on mobile phones as well," he told the Financial Times [paywall] at the IFA consumer electronics expo, as reported by Gamespot.

Hirai is particularly interested in emulating the success of Pokemon Go, which has gone from strength to strength.

"Pokemon Go is a real game-changer," he added. "I'm very interested in the fact that it has the potential to really change the way people move, literally."

Hirai also said that Pokemon Go's success is something the whole games industry benefits from, calling the game's AR feature a "great innovative idea".
