Bloodborne: guide to Hunter's Dream hub

Bloodborne grants weary players sanctuary in Hunter's Dream, a safe hub where they can utilise various progression features unavailable in the game proper.

You'll first enter Hunter's Dream within minutes of starting the game, and from this point on it will be your main base of operations.

On your first visit, you'll encounter multiple Messengers with tutorial prompts explaining the game's concepts and controls, and there are three on the staircase who will provide you with your basic equipment.

You'll also encounter the Tombstone, which you use to move back and forth between the hub and the world. You can warp to any Lantern you've visited on foot.

When you return later, the hub will offer a great deal more to see and do:

  • Doll
This life size doll won't speak to you on first visit, but when you return you'll be able to upgrade your character's statistics using Blood Echoes by speaking with her. She isn't always in the same place, so look carefully.
  • Item Shop
There's an item shop run by Messengers. Look for it on top of the bird bath.
  • Weapons
You can upgrade, customise and repair weapons inside the house.
  • An NPC can be found in the locked upstairs room later in the game.
