EA would like to release Star Wars Battlefront close to Star Wars: Episode VII

Star Wars Battlefront may not have a release date yet, but if EA could pick the most favorable timeframe, it would be close to the movie’s release.

Speaking during the firm’s investor’s call last night, EVP of EA Studios Patrick Soderlund said even though the game isn’t linked to Star Wars: Episode VII, the firm would “prefer” to release Battlefront during the film’s window.

“What we’re building is more rooted in the traditional Star Wars universe and not so much necessarily linked to the movies being made,” said Soderlund. “And that’s just because we wanted to make a game that celebrated the history of Star Wars.

“Obviously there will be things in there that are somewhat tied to the new movie. I wouldn’t say that we have a particular tie to the movie. Now, obviously we would prefer to be close to the movie, but I wouldn’t say that we’re directly tied to it.”

The JJ Abrams directed film is slated for theatrical release on December 18, 2015, while EA has said we’ll get the first look at Battlefront during spring 2015.

We’re wondering if it will be shown at either GDC or PAX, both of which are in the spring. EA showed Battlefield 4 for the first time during GDC 2013.

Better to make a good game that isn’t broken on release too much. But I do agree it’s logical to do it if they can manage it. A lot of people will want to play a Star Wars game after seeing the movie.

I would gladly build a tank of a computer to play this game.

That is exactly when you know who knows what and who act like a retard wanna be professional with an emphasis on the $.
But hey, after I hear. Nah EA is not evil etc etc…
It is true they are not Evil but they surely do not know what they are talking about and certainly do think they shall/could get whatever they want just by asking like moving a deadline is that easy and without repercussion.

The only complaint I had with BF4 (behavior) was the rubber banding. What should Battlefront be if Dice says “ok” to Soderlund because I would say a large community was pissed at BF4 bugging here and there.
