Massive co-op update coming to Star Wars: Battlefront 2 today

The co-op section of Star Wars: Battlefront 2 continues to expand.

DICE has revealed all the details about Star Wars: Battlefront 2's Age of Rebellion update, due out today on all platforms. Age of Rebellion is mostly focused on expanding the game's co-op content, but multiplayer is also getting some love.

Age of Rebellion covers the era of the original trilogy, so most of the new content will be themed around that. Co-op is getting seven new locations in Yavin, Death Star 2, Endor, Hoth, Tatooine, Kessel and Jabba’s Palace.

Capital Ships, created for Battlefront 2's Supremacy mode, will gradually make their way to co-op, too, starting with Republic Venator and Separatist Dreadnaught. Each Capital Ship will be available for teams to attack/defend on standalone maps.

Co-op is not just getting new content, as DICE revealed a number of AI tweaks also launching with today's patch. AI teammates will be able to use vehicles, and play as heroes in Instant Action. The same mode will also now feature AI squad mates you can spawn on.

Both co-op and multiplayer are getting new content in the form of two new Reinforcement options, and four new weapons. The Ewok Hunter and ISB Agent are two new Infiltrators coming to both factions. The E-11D for Assault, DL-18 for Officer, T-21 for Heavy, and Cycler Rifle for Specialist are the new weapons.

Though the weapons themselves will be available across the entire game, their unlock requirements are entirely based around kills in co-op. DICE is also adding two new maps to Heroes and Villans, and making a few balance tweaks to Leia.

Outside of that, you can expect a wealth of new UI options to help you better tailor the experience to your liking. You can read all the individual patch notes on the official forums.
