Elder Scrolls Online players can now buy, sell, trade through third-party auction forum

The Elder Scrolls Online doesn’t contain an in-game auction house. Instead, players can buy and sell items through guild stores. However, ZeniMax Online has come up with a way for players to participate through in-game trading.

According to a post on the ESO forums, players will be able to trade, buy and sell goods and services through an online marketplace instead. This will not only, according to the developer, keep the game’s economy healthy, but will encourage socialization.

“You don’t necessarily want to do a global auction house for a game with one giant server because that generally leads to all the best gear being available at very, very cheap prices,” according to gameplay designer Nick Konkle. “A lot of times that can trivialize the game.

“You cannot have a healthy economy when there are no restrictions on getting the best stuff in the game.”

So, if you want to sell your wares or buy something crafted by a player or any other sell-able item in the MMO, you will either have to visit the marketplace linked above or join a guild.

Thanks, Massively.

I’d advise against this game if you like Elder Scrolls. It’s like a poor man’s Skyrim with some crap MMO features thrown in.

IMO, you’re better off with the SP versions of TES.

How you release an MMO these days and not have an AH of some kind is borderline insane.

This game (for this and other reasons) will be free to play in a couple months.

@Arcnail It does have “an AH of some kind”. Each guild has it’s own guild store. Plus, they can sell to players outside of guild if they set up a shop.

PPL are reading this article wrong. There is a auction house in fact there are thousands of them, in ESO you can join up to 5 guilds there are some very good dedicated trading guilds in eso and also crafting guilds this guild stores are in game you go to the store and the ui is exactly like any other mmo. I prefer this way of trading one of the five guilds I am in uses the store for their guild mates who proven themselves to buy daedric crafted gear 1/10 of the price on other ah. That was because in that guild we pooled gold for the crafting officers to buy very expansive and rare crafting books.
