Gears of War Xbox One will “define next-gen” says industry insider – rumour

Thursday, 30th January 2014 09:31 GMT By Dave Cook

Gears of War developer Black Tusk Studio has been hotly-tipped to define next-gen experiences by an industry insider.

It follows Microsoft’s Phil Spencer bigging up Black Tusk’s work and the new Gears of War game on Twitter. It certainly seems as if the company is backing the new shooter with all its got.

Now, NeoGAF member Ashan Rasheed – who has a solid track record in providing accurate leaks – said of the new shooter, “Also don’t sleep on Black Tusk, they have the chops to define next-gen. Insiders were hearing they had the most impressive X1 tech long ago.”

Treat this as rumour of course, but it’s not a big stretch to say that Microsoft really believes in Black Tusk. They’ve been singing their praises since Epic sold the series to Microsoft earlier in the week.

Uninspired, gore obsessed and creatively barren?

Yup, sounds like next gen Xbox One gaming all right.

Not really a rumour to say they will define the next gen…lol

Hard to see how this will be achieved with Gears, if you said their new IP, I would believe them. More chainsaw guns won’t cut it.

@tezzer1985 “More chainsaw guns won’t cut it.”

    No pun intended? Hahaha!

Gears of War was actually mechanically and technically sound though, even if it’s artistically depraved.
Still, it’s hard to see how a new Gears of War could define another generation.
Killzone already looks pretty impressive and despite some misgivings, I’m actually interested how vertical Titanfall’s gameplay is going to be.

    It “defined” last gen too.

It’s just the same shit over and over and over and over with these guys, because they know people will pay to eat that shiny shit up.

They say they don’t care about graphics but they all really do, now anyway.
