Persona 5 to continue with series’ high school setting, but the “atmosphere” will be different

Persona 5 will continue with the series’ high school setting, but according to the latest issue of Dengeki PlayStation, the atmosphere will be different from previous settings. According to information from the magazine posted on Re: Gigen, the chains seen in the teaser signify the characters being bond by modern society and and the players must break free from said chains. The chairs signify the classroom. That’s really all that’s known at present as Atlus is still being tight lipped on the storyline for the moment; however, the game will ” offer a sense of realism, including life-sized characters and a story built from a new world and values.” The PS3-exclusive was announced Sunday after much teasing and is confirmed for northern winter release in Japan. Thanks, Gematsu.

I was hoping it would progress to a university style setting (as the audience is no doubt a bit older now) but if the tone is different then it should still work.

@1 i agree. Getting kind of tired of teens and high-schools.

The high school setting was tired *long* before Persona was the “in” niche thing.

The whole high school thing puts me off this game anyway, it’s a bit ‘teen’.

SMT3 was the pinacle of the series, and one of my favourite RPGs ever. Everything else since has just been a retread.

Yeah. You all expect it to have Call Of Duty Ghost storyline with two sons and one father that is a leader of some kind of military wannabe army in the middle of nowhere. Of course.

That is not niche. you can look forward to it + it broke some records for Xbox One and PS4. Enjoy.

I don’t care if it’s another school or not, as long as it remains Urban Fantasy, I’ll all for it. Oh and keep it mysterious please!

Atlus have a remarkable grasp of the Occult, so it’ll always be weird :P

    Wherever it’s set, I’m sure I’d love it…

Well, okay, if it’s set in a nursery school, that might be bothersome…
