BioShock Infinite minimum and recommend PC specs released

The minimum and recommend PC specs for BioShock Infinite have been released.

Here’s the rundown:

Minimum

  • OS: Windows Vista Service Pack 2 32-bit
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 DUO 2.4 GHz / AMD Athlon X2 2.7 GHz
  • Memory: 2 GB
  • Hard Drive: 20 GB free
  • Video Card: DirectX10 Compatible ATI Radeon HD 3870 / NVIDIA 8800 GT / Intel HD 3000 Integrated Graphics
  • Video Card Memory: 512 MB
  • Sound Card: DirectX Compatible

Recommended

  • OS: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 64-bit
  • Processor: Quad Core Processor
  • Memory: 4 GB
  • Hard Drive: 30 GB free
  • Video Card: DirectX11 Compatible, AMD Radeon HD 6950 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560
  • Video Card Memory: 1024 MB

Game’s out on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 March 26.

    WHy do you need an extra 10 GB for the recommended specs? Even if they are giving High res textures it won’t be 10GB.

    @1 high-res textures, uncompressed audio and 1080p cut scenes can easily make up 10GB of space.

    I doubt they will be uncompressing audio or giving 1080p Cutscenes especially since this is Bioshock if its like the original or even a second one there will only be a handful of cutscenes.

    high res textures will give you 2-3GB and there is no need for uncompressed audio.

    Most of the time those min/max system req. are completely useless
    Just look at 3870 / NVIDIA 8800 GT / Intel HD 3000
    Intel 3000 is far far slower then 8800GT

    @3 I’d think it’s safe to say that Infinite is going to have more cutscenes than the original BioShock. Ken has talked about not hiding interactions between the player and NPCs through radios or behind glass doors like he’s always done. Plus with the Songbird and Elizabeth some of those will probably just be scripted events.

    Now with 3GB of High Res Textures and lets say 2 hours of cutscenes you could easily hit 10GB of data. XCOM’s 1080p cutscene update was 3GB and that game doesn’t have nearly as many as a game like Bioshock could.

    Skyrim which had far more content High res texture package was only 3GB. So Again I wouldn’t expect 10GB there is something wrong with it.

    As far as Cut-scenes go are you talking about in game then that does nothing that uses the assets in the game and just scripted out. Again I doubt Bioshock Infinite will have any CG cutscenes outside of the intro and ending just like the first one and second its not Kevin’s style.

    @6 Skyrims vanilla install was also 6GB where as the vanilla install for this is 20GB.

    Yeah because its not as compressed or not using the same compression algorithm as Bathesda. Lot of variables.

    It seems to be full res textures as described on the website

    Finally, to show off all of that glorious PC pixel-pushing power, we’re shipping with unadulterated, full-resolution textures right in the box. You may not enjoy the three-DVD install, but we hope you will appreciate the jaw-dropping detail our amazing team of artists lavished on the game.
