Splinter Cell: Echoes comic to bridge narrative gap

Splinter Cell's universe is set to expand with a full-length graphic novel detailing events between 2010's Conviction and the upcoming Blacklist.

IGN reports the comic was written by Nathan Edmondson, of Olympus, Grifter and Iron Man fame, with art from prolific British illustrator Mark Laming.

The story remains focused on Sam Fisher and follows events between Conviction and Blacklist, but Edmondson wouldn't give further information.

"I can't say much more than that at this point, as Sam Fisher's path has some very interesting turns post-Conviction," he noted.

The writer said other characters form the Splinter Cell universe will appear, and that he is personally keen on Fisher's "anti-hero" stylings.

"Marc and I have a great deal of fun dropping in signature Sam moments - the precise cuts and blows and shots, the panther-like movement in the shadows, for example," he added.

Splinter Cell: Echoes is due sometime in 2013. Blacklist is due in March.

Since launching UbiWorkshop to handle transmedia in-house, Ubisoft has won praise for its approach to comic tie-ins, notably Assassin's Creed series The Fall.
