Uncharted hits 17 million sales, UC3 GOTY inbound
Sony’s announced the Uncharted series has reached as a whole over 17 million sales since the series began back in 2007.

The exact figure given by Sony was “over 17,320,000″ as of April 12, 2012. The series has seen main installments to date on PS3 – Drake’s Fortune in 2007, Among Thieves in 2009 and Drake’s Deception in 2011 – as well as Vita spin-off Golden Abyss earlier this year.
To accompany the announcement, a GOTY edition of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception has also been confirmed for a release. The release will come with the main game, plus all of its DLC released to date. Those include:
- Classic Skins Packs 1 – 3
- Multiplayer Accessory Pack
- Flashback Map Packs 1 and 2
- Drake’s Deception Map Pack
- Fort Co-Op Adventure
- Co-Op Shade Survival
- Doughnut Skin Pack
- Rogues Skin Pack 1 and 2
Packshot’s below.

I think I’ve just found my alternative purchase to UC3′s Collector’s Edition. Not that I wouldn’t like the collector’s edition, just I gotta save money. Anyway, congrats to the Uncharted series reaching 17 Million Sold mark, here’s hoping for another 17 million sold for its future, and more great entries in a truly awesome game franchise.

yes great games. i wish they will improve the multiplayer with the next game. it has huge potential, but it´s not there yet. it´s not a gears of war in the mp department. it doesn´t have to be but, you know if they have a mp, they should work on refining and tweaking it. well after i got screwed up by the ms support a few minutes ago i think i will play some uc3 mp for a while right now…

Wonderful news for a wonderful series. It would have been nice to know the figures for each game.

YES. That’s good.
Good sales for such a good franchise. I hope Sony will continue Uncharted games.
Uncharted 3 was a great game, but Uncharted 2 was much better in my opinion.
I still remember that Train level. It was awesome.

@6 Yes the train level was incredible, the landscape, the movement of the wagons etc..
Congratulations to ND, I’m thinking to sell my U3 game and buy the GOTY edition, since I was waiting for the DLC price to drop, I might better buy the updated game.

Uncharted 1 was one of the finest games ever made. Uncharted 2 was a great game but trying a bit too hard to be dude-bro cool in places. Uncharted 3 was a mess of overbearing design and tedium.

To me they were all bad games. However, I’m an old fart and today’s market loves this skill-less, spectacle movie on rails entertainment.

Shipped numbers are sold for Sony. “Sold” numbers are sold for retailers and does not directly concern Sony.
Where do you get your 13 M from? Sold by retailers do not practically exist as takes an enormous effort to collect them from all regions and countries. Clearly, it would seem unlikely that 4M were still in stock at various retailer ware houses around the world. My guess would be something around 16M-16.5M sold by retailers. Could be lower (or higher) but hardly as “low” as 13M.

That’s cos they’re solid games. Well apart from the fact my shitting flash back maps don’t work at all now. Got pack 2 at launch and haven’t played a single game on the new maps or even the maps from pack 1 either. That basically sucks as they both cost me £15. Sort it out ND. On the plus side I do get to play against more lower rank players and kick ass a bit more.

@12 Yes, Sony have sent millions of copies of the Uncharted series to sit unsold in retail vendors’ storerooms.
And UC2 *was* better than 3! My all time favourite video game.

Who says Sony exclusives don’t sell.
Well done Naughty Dog.

#12, STFU! FOR SONY – SOLD!! It does *not* matter what some low life uneducated ungrateful customer thinks, UC *is* amazing. It’s an *exclusive*.
I just hope the geniuses at Sony are satisfied, that’s all I want really.
My guess is 21 million sold by now. I read something along the lines of that on PS lifestyle too.

Well as much as I’d love to drag up some platform trolling… I’d rather just say congrats to the team at Naughty Dog, much deserved.

Sold = sold to retailers. Retailers tend not to hold huge unsold stock levels in warehouses. Especially the likes of GAME who would rather you bought secondhand.

@14 by no means bad games. no way. i have some problems with the artdesign and i hate the enrique eglesias look of nathan drake. i understand the movie on rails criticism. but still they are good games…

Ideally Uncharted 4 will see Nathen Drake team up with Lara Croft on a quest for the Golden Leaf. In which the unexpected arrival of a Italian Plumber see’s them journey to the Mushroom Kingdom, a land full of gold…

…then a pale, bald and very brutal man with red stripes all over his body steps on their land and tries to kill them all, one after another. they call planet reach for help but they cannot come. they got their own problems. but they send a fairy called cortana. she falls in love with the brutal guy. they have lots of QTE unsafed sex and give birth to a child…of eden.

Uncharted: Drake Fortune. Is one of the best games I have ever played, I loved the story and the game play. I personally think which Uncharted game you played first is probably gonna be your favourite. I found U2 changing location too often annoyed me, I felt U3 had a better balance of exploration and combat, the only thing that let me down on U3 was on last chapter there was no boss battle, the ending felt a bit easy, but the improvements on the games combat and animations made U3 a more indepth and enjoyable game for me over U2. OMG the moment when you got on a horse, I was reliving indiana Jones but in a video game.

It’s quite telling that they don’t split the sales by title.
You know the third is the worst seller of the three, right?

@30 Sorry to disappoint Geki, but ChartTrack says otherwise.
It’s not surprising, given the shorter time it’s been out and higher price point, but it’s still disappointing.

1. Chart Track only does numbers for the UK.
2. Link to the actual numbers please.

Sorry Geki, I just don’t care enough to entertain this argument. I honestly couldn’t care less whether you believe it or not.
Also, Chart Track covers Europe, not just the UK.
