Project Natal – Hands-on with Burnout and Ricochet

Tuesday, 2nd June 2009 11:59 GMT By Patrick Garratt

EG and IGN have posted up hands-on impressions of Project Natal, the 360 camera announced in MS’s E3 conference yesterday.

Both sites got to look at Burnout and a game called Ricochet on the tech, and both sites say it works. Controllers are so passé.

Take a look.

Hmm….looks like a HUGE living room is a pre-requisite for this new tech. Balls.

Also, I am simply not going to trust a driving game with no controller and no tactile feedback for acceleration etc. It just won’t work (i’m sure nobody would seriously consider it for REAL driving).

Lastly, the elephant thing made me laugh in the demovid Giga posted. Lots of room for sketchy stuff right there (it’s lucky they were wearing clothes when doing it :P).

Wow, these comments are just proof of how jaded core gamers have become over the years.

    Entrenched rather than jaded imo

Prof Power Glove: Would you take a steering wheel AND a 3D camera? Because, imo, one of the great things about this kind of “hands free controller” is the fact that it can enhance current input methods instead of replacing them. In a racing game you could have a headtracking for example. Or you could always give a finger to your fellow driver while passing him. :)
