Microsoft announces additional film and TV providers coming to XBL

Microsoft has announced 40 TV and entertainment providers coming to Xbox Live, which it plans to roll out to customers in 20 countries starting around the holidays.

After quite a few rumors over the past few weeks and a semi-announcement from CEO Steve Ballmer, the firm announced via Major Nelson the additional content heading to the console. Likely, the channels will be integrated in some form through the new update, rumored for a release next month.

The channels and film providers announced include: Bravo, Comcast, HBO GO, Verizon FiOS and Syfy in the U.S.; BBC TV and radio in the U.K.; Telefónica in Spain; Rogers On Demand in Canada; Televisa in Mexico; ZDF in Germany; and MediaSet in Italy, and more.

An Xbox Live Gold membership is required, along with other subscriptions and fees required by providers. Kinect functionality will also vary by feature, provider and region.
