Star Wars: Battlefront II Is Coming, the SNES Classic Is Coming (Maybe), and the Rest of This Week's Headlines

ENDING CREDITS | Taking a look a back at this week's headlines and everything else you might have missed on USgamer.

This article first appeared on USgamer, a partner publication of VG247. Some content, such as this article, has been migrated to VG247 for posterity after USgamer's closure - but it has not been edited or further vetted by the VG247 team.

Holy crow, we made it to Friday. It was a bit touch-and-go there for a while, but we pulled through. See what happens when we hold onto each other and believe in the power of friendship?

It's been an interesting week. Rumors carry a suggestive whiff of a possible SNES Classic existing soon. Will it happen? It'd be nice. It'd also be nice if Nintendo learned a few things about supply and demand, even though the SNES Classic is unlikely to generate the same red-hot hype as the NES Classic.

With continued apologies to Webcomic Name.

Um, we still have comprehensive lists of games we want to see on the SNES Classic. Of course.

Here's a recap of the rest of the big game news that washed over us throughout the week:

  • The trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi put everyone in a Star-Warsy mood, so it was the perfect time for EA to announce Star Wars: Battlefront II for PC, Xbox One, and PC. There's some confusion about the game's season pass, though.
  • It was a big week for retro games and nostalgia, too. Some old footage of a 1988 20/20 report about the NES made us reminisce about the industry's past – and gives us some context for Nintendo's current problems. Mike enjoyed the remake of Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap, I dug The Disney Afternoon Collection, and Storage Wars gave a lot of people false hope about how their cigarette-smelling NES collection is worth tens of thousands of dollars.
  • Speaking of The Disney Afternoon Collection, which games contained therein are good? Which are bad? I weighed Disney's bears, ducks, and rodents against each other.
  • Persona 5 was a big news-maker this week, for better or worse. The RPG's soundtrack is now available on iTunes, so strap in for some hyperjazz. Critics are coming down hard on its error-ridden translation, but maybe some crazy spin-offs will gradually take our minds off the problem.
  • StarCraft is freeeee. Now's the time to play through its single-player campaign if you haven't done so already.
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is here, it's doing donuts all over the Nintendo Switch, and it's great. It's not without controversy, however.
  • Our honored former Editor-in-Chief Jeremy Parish continues his Design in Action breakdown of The Legend of Zelda: The Adventure of Link.
  • Jaz's amazing feature, The History of Oregon Trail, is guaranteed to protect you against dysentery. We're not responsible if you fail to caulk your wagon properly before you attempt to ford any rivers, though.

That's it for another week. I've got a date with Dragon Quest Heroes II because I'm totally hip.

Let's see out the week with "An Ending" from Undertale, the music that plays when you get any of the game's many "neutral" endings.

It's interesting how the severity of said endings vary wildly, despite all being referred to as neutral. If you generally behave yourself while you travel through the land of monsters but you fail to free everyone, you might still get an ending that leaves you on good terms with Sans, Undyne, and the rest of the crew.

If, however, you act like a real butt-wart but hold back from committing full-on genocide, you'll hear about everything you did wrong.

Things can get so bad, in fact, that Sans hints he plans to hunt you down and kill you.

And on that cheerful note, take care.
