Red Dead Online: Is the Outlaw Pass No. 3 Worth Buying?

The new Wheeler, Rawson and Co. Outlaw Pass serves as a way to reward players for extended periods of play, with gold, money and items as rewards. We'll show you how to buy it and if you should buy it at all.

Though they've been gone for a while, Red Dead Online has brought back a third iteration of the Wheeler, Rawson and Co. Outlaw Pass, now available to add new content, gold and items for your character if you pay the costs required to access it. We've looked through all the rewards involved to answer the question: is the Outlaw Pass No. 3 worth it?

On this page:

Is the Outlaw Pass No. 3 Worth it for Red Dead Online?

After looking through the rewards and effort required to access them all, we'd say that the Outlaw Pass No. 3 for Red Dead Online is only worth it if you play the game regularly and expect to get a significant amount of the rewards involved. It pays for itself if filled out (we'll explain that below), but it doesn't contribute to gameplay in a meaningful way, just offering resources, cosmetics and currency rather than new missions.

What is the Outlaw Pass?

The Outlaw Pass is similar to "battle passes" found in other games, a separate levelling system that can be bought once you link your Red Dead Online account to your Rockstar Social account (a process which is itself free). As you level it up, it unlocks new items and rewards for your account and character, with 100 tiers in total. However, the Outlaw Pass only lasts for a limited amount of time, usually a few months. After that point it will no longer be buyable, and you won't be able to progress with it any further. If it's going to run out, make sure to level it up as much as possible! Levelling is done simply by getting experience, same as your regular character level.

It's also important to know that you level up the Outlaw Pass even without buying it. All that happens when you buy the Pass is that it unlocks all the rewards you've accessed, meaning you'll progress through it whether you've bought it or not.

Outlaw Pass Price

The Outlaw Pass costs 40 gold bars, an in-game currency that can be earned or paid for. Notably, if you level up the Outlaw Pass completely, you'll actually get all that back, essentially allowing it to pay for itself and losing you nothing (assuming you do get round to completing it). If you want to know how to get gold bars, we've put together a guide on that here.

How to Get the Outlaw Pass No. 3

You can get the Outlaw Pass at any point while it's available by pausing the game in Red Dead Online and going into the "Progress" section of the menu, whereupon the Pass should be there for you.

Outlaw Pass No. 3 End Date

The Outlaw Pass No. 3 is out for purchase from 28th July 2020, and will be gone again on 19th October 2020. Any progress you intend to make on it will have to be done by that point, because you won't get another chance.
