PS4 Pro Boost Mode takes on Bloodborne, The Witcher 3, and Batman: Arkham Knight

How much difference does the PS4 Pro's Boost mode really make?

The PS4 Pro boost mode rolled out in PS4 firmware update 4.5, currently in beta.

Boost mode opens up the PS4 Pro hardware to unpatched, base PS4 games, and Digital Foundry has done some more tests, using community requested titles like Bloodborne, The Witcher 3, Dark Souls 3, and Batman: Arkham Knight.

Bloodborne's frame pacing and load times see no improvement but at least the frame rate dips are taken care of. Dark Souls 3 suffers from the same problems and Boost mode doesn't make much of a difference here either.

They even gave Dark Souls 2 a whirl and happily, the 60fps framerate has been stabilised nicely.

Other games they look at include The Evil Within, Oddworld: New n' Tasty, and Until Dawn.

You can check out the gameplay comparisons for yourself in the video above.

What are your thoughts on the Boost mode so far? Are you impressed? Or not so much.
