Operation Flashpoint: Red River is a "thinking man's game," says Codies

Codemasters' Tim Browne has explained why Operation Flashpoint: Red River is tactical-based shooter instead of your normal run n' gun style FPS.

Speaking in a GDC video interview with GameFront, Browne said the firm still wants the game to be accessible and fun, so it's not a full-blown military simulator either.

'We kind of got a sliding scale with getting the level [in the game] between simulator and authentic military shooter... so it's nicely placed," said Browne. "You know, you've got your run n' gun shooters and they've been done to death. People are getting tired of those games so they want something that tests the gray matter so that's why we're calling it a tactical shooter.

"It's a thinking man's game."

Red River lands on April 21 in Europe and April 26 in the US for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
