Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate has now shipped 3 million units worldwide

Monster Hunter fever is upon us.

Monster Hunter 4G and western version Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate have together reached 3 million units shipped, Capcom has announced.

The figure includes units sold through the eShop in addition to physical copies shipped to retailers for sale.

That might seem a little low if you're familiar with Monster Hunter's appeal, but it's worth noting that this figure doesn't include the original Monster Hunter 4, which sold over 4 million copies on its tod.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is something of a showpiece for the New 3DS, as a second analog stick makes a world of difference to the hunting action RPG series; not for nothing was the phrase "Monster Hunter claw" coined back in the PSP days.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate arrived in the west last week to very strong reviews.
