Industry veteran launches guide book for aspiring game pioneers on Kickstarter

Hints & Tips for Videogame Pioneers is the new book from industry veteran Andrew Hewson, which looks to give advice to any developer or team looking to achieve success in the market. He is also founder of publisher Hewson Consultants and 21st Century Entertainment, the same company that gave DICE its first break with Pinball Dreams.

Hewson's Kickstarter campaign page has eight days left and is sitting at £9,069 of its£12,000 goal.

The book includes insight from fellow veterans Steve Turner, Nick Jones, Oliver Frey, Andreas Axelsson, Roger Kean, Stewart Gilray, and more.

Explaining the book's aims, Hewson said in a statement, "When I started in the games industry with a ZX80 and a typewriter, it was an era of open platforms and cutting edge innovation. Today, thanks to digital distribution and the re-emergence of open platforms, we are returning to the kind of industry in which small creative teams can flourish. This book is an opportunity for me to share my experiences from two decades at the cutting edge of gaming with the industry pioneers of tomorrow.”

It looks to give expert advice to aspiring bedroom coders in today's market, which offers easier routes to market in the form of iTunes, Googe Play, Steam and console marketplaces.
