Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock official, features a "rock 'n' roll fantasy" story

Looks like someone's been playing a little too much Brutal Legend.

Nintendo Power's blown the door that hadn't already been blown off Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. And if you thought Guitar Hero had come down with a terminal case of sequelitis, you'll be happy to know that this one is... different.

For one, Neversoft has decided to do away with the "sex and drugs" part of the equation altogether, leaving behind pure, undiluted rock 'n' roll.

"All of the cool features and things we did in GH5 - the level of polish - [are] still there. Party Play still exists. The ability to play with any instrument combination - all that stuff is still in the game. But what we strove to do here is hand-pick all the songs... We wanted to focus first and foremost on shredding kind of rock," project lead Brian Bright said.

As a result, the game's whole aesthetic has changed. Glitz and glamor have been replaced by - stop us if you've heard this one before - crazy heavy-metal album cover art. Meanwhile, Gene Simmons will narrate the tale, which focuses on a battle between The Beast and the demigod of rock.

"The Beast defeats the demigod of rock, and the demigod of rock is entombed in stone, and his legendary guitar is banished. [The guitar] is the source of his power. And so you are going through and assembling an army of warriors to be able to defeat the Beast," Bright explained.
