Gamescom 2016 dates announced, will take place in mid-August

Next week is gamescom 2015, and event organizer Koelnmesse has already dated next year's event.

The annual show in Cologne, Germany took place a little earlier this year due to the vacation period in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, according to MCV.

This put it rather close to E3 2015 which caused a few publishers and developers to opt out or bring less to the event. Sony being one example, which decided to skip the German-event for Paris Games Week in October.

Next year, gamescom 2016 will take place August 17-21, eight weeks after E3 2016 which runs June 14-17.
