Game addiction clinic opens in Canada

According to this London Free Press report, Canada's first gaming addiction support group will open today in London, Ontario, a branch of the On-Line Gamers Anonymous, which already runs in the US.

"It's high time this got the mainstream media attention that it deserves," said founder Brad Dorrance.

"We're not going to wait for the medical profession to recognize or put their stamp of approval on this addiction."

Dorrance himself was putting 12 hours a day into his habit, and was lying to his wife about it before eventually trying to kill himself. He hasn't played a game for ten months.

"The big challenge is rebuilding trust in a damaged marriage," he said. "I think people need to see how much damage can be done to a relationship by any addiction, even this one."
