Gaikai to partner with Walmart.com

VentureBeat's reporting that Gaikai will partner with US retailer Walmart and its website Walmart.com.

Users will be able to click on a link on the Walmart website to play a game's demo, like Dead Space 2, for free with the cloud service.

“Over the next 12 months, when people see a video game on TV and want to try it out, they can be sure the fastest way will be on Walmart’s website," said Gaikai creator Dave Perry.

"It’s an exciting time and you’ll see more sites around the world doing these stealth launches with us."

Gaikai will be paid for the amount of minutes a user plays a game using the service, as part of the deal between retailers.

It's the latest development in a battle between Gaikai and OnLive in a period where the cloud has been a big talking point since E3.
