Disney's Planes: Cars spin-off flying to Wii U, Wii, 3DS & DS in August

Disney's Planes is a new trilogy of films set high above Pixar's Cars universe. Naturally it's getting the game treatment on every current Nintendo format under the sun.

Although the films and games are set in the Cars universe neither have anything to do with Pixar, and are being handled by DisneyToon Studios instead.

The first film is due on August 9, but the games are not yet dated. You can bet that they'll probably launch in close proximity to the flick though.

ONM reports that the games cast players as Dusty, a crop-dusting plane voiced by Dane Cook, and that the Wii and Wii U editions will take place across ten environments. The 3DS and DS build will feature six, but comes with additional challenge modes similar to Pilotwings.
