Crying dad is a pretty great advertisement for the power of VR

Virtual reality is amazing and anybody who disagrees is welcome to register for crankypants of the year.

The video below comes from YouTuber Hoopermation, who strapped his dad into an Oculus Rift DK2 and showed him The Apollo 11 Experience.

Turns out Hooper senior had unrealised childhood dreams of being an astronaut, and as such, had a pretty strong reaction to the whole thing. It's kind of beautiful to watch.

If you have a Rift unit you can grab this demo for yourself from the Oculus app store.

Space isn't everyone's bag, of course. Did you ever see that one of the elderly lady who couldn't go outside any more, exclaiming in wonder at being able to look around and see trees and sunshine? Gods bless VR. It's transformative.

Virtual reality headsets like Oculus Rift, Project Morpheus, HTC Vive and the like are looking more and more like a commercial prospect. The world is full of naysayers, many of whom haven't tried VR since the 1990's if at all, but every video like this makes me believe even more strongly.
