It looks like Riot is making a League of Legends MMO

One of many new titles that the studio has in the works.

It would appear that Riot Games is making an MMO title set in the League of Legends universe.

That's according to the studio's VP of IP and entertainment Greg Street, who said on Twitter that the studio was beginning work on a brand new project, one that "many" League of Legends fans and Riot staff have been asking for. Responding to a fan, Street confirmed that this game was in fact an MMO.

This is the latest in a string of new projects that Riot has begun work on. From the studio's founding in 2006 and until 2019, the developer only ran one game, smash hit MOBA League of Legends. Last year, the firm also rolled out an auto battler title, Teamfight Tactics, before revealing a slew of upcoming games.

This included Valorant, an online first-person shooter. Originally known as Project A, this was released in June. Riot has also released a digital card game, Legends of Runeterra, while League of Legends is coming to consoles and mobile as Wild Rift. The company is also apparently making a fighting game.

Oh, and if that wasn't enough, Riot has launched a new publishing label called Riot Forge, which will be releasing League of Legends titles from third-party teams. The first title to emerge from this is Ruined King: A League of Legends Story, which is set launch in early 2021.
