DOOM is looking better than ever in allegedly leaked campaign gameplay trailer.
DOOM single-player trailer might be fake, is awesome anyway
The DOOM trailer above is not an official Bethesda asset. It may not even be real. But golly, it’s good, isn’t it?
Update: Mirrors are being smacked down left right and centre, but here’s one from Redditor valcan_s which seems to be holding up.
The video was shared via Vid.me and Reddit by user Muravyei, who said it was originally posted to and deleted from YouTube “in what must’ve been record time”, and they only just managed to capture it. This is the explanation for its low resolution.
As for the trailer’s origins, the poster claims it has leaked, and is either cancelled or just unfinished. The video definitely has the hallmarks of an in-progress bit of marketing – you’ll see the filler text and notes. If genuine, it’s either quite old or definitely for internal use only, as it calls the shooter “DOOM 4”, a moniker Bethesda dropped years ago (but which regular punters still use like, all the time; the publisher will never win that battle, possibly even among its own staff).
It could very easily be a fake. Let’s make that very clear. But if it was put together by an Internet prankster from snippets shown so far, Bethesda should probably give the creaor a job a job; they sure know how to make a shooter’s plot seem exciting.
We’ve emailed Bethesda to ask about the trailer’s authenticity and will update when we have the skinny. In the meantime, why not enjoy some definitely real materials? We’ve got footage of DOOM’s Snapmap tool in action, for example.
DOOM releases in May for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
