The Minecraft movie has a new helmsman.

Rob McElhenney has signed on to direct the Minecraft film, Mojang has announced.

McElhenney has only a few director credits to his name, and is better known as an actor. Perhaps his most notable role is Mac in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, for which he was one of the key writers. He has a string of producer credits, too.

Minecraft: The Movie is the result of a collaboration between Mojang and Warner Bros. Previously, Night at the Museum director Shawn Levy had been tapped to direct.

Don’t expect to see this one before the end of next year at the very earliest.
